We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water meets health standards. During September 2015, we failed to collect the correct number of follow up samples for a failed; Total Coliform, test and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of your drinking water during that time.

Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause system such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.

The table below lists the contaminants we inadvertently did not completely sample for, when samples should have been taken, and the date which follow-up samples were taken.

Contaminant
Total Coliform
Should have been taken
3 follow up samples should have been taken. One at the sample location along with one up stream and one downstream. September 14,2015
Samples were taken
Only one sample was taken at the original location September 14,2015
The one follow up sample passed along with the October and November 2015 samples.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time. You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. You may continue to drink the water.

What happened?

The Town of Dundee collected and sampled as required. However, we failed to collect the correct number of follow-up samples.

What is being done?

The Town of Dundee resumed monthly Total Coliform sampling in October 2015_.

Congratulations to the students at Dundee Elementary Academy for going above and beyond with their “Pennies for Paws” fundraiser that raised over $2,000 for the purchase of a puppy to replace a retiring K-9.  K-9’s are a great resource to our law enforcement.  Dundee Elementary Academy students should take great pride in knowing  their contribution will have a positive impact in Polk County.  Great job and Thank you!
