OVERVIEW
Welcome to the Town of Dundee Election Information Center. This information is intended to familiarize Town Commission Candidates, campaign treasurers, and residents with the duties and responsibilities required under Florida’s Election Laws, and the Town of Dundee Charter. All requirements prescribed by State Statute, and included in this material, are subject to change by Florida Legislature.
To become a candidate, you must be a registered voter in Polk County, a qualified elector in the Town of Dundee, and hold no other public office. The terms are 4 years.
As of January 7, 2022, the qualifying fee for the April 5, 2022 Election for the Mayor seat is $60 and for a Commission seat is $48.

All seats for the 2022 Election will be sworn in on May 10, 2022, at 6:30 pm at the meeting of the Town Commission.

CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED AMENDMENTS
The Town of Dundee Charter Review Committee proposed a slate of five (5) amendments to the charter of the Town of Dundee in Ordinance 21-36. The proposed Charter amendments will be on the ballot for the 2022 Election.
IMPORTANT ELECTION DATES
On April 5, 2022, voters will elect one City Commissioner/Mayor for the following seat(s):
- Mayor
- Town Commissioner, Seat No. 1
- Town Commissioner, Seat No. 3
Regular Election – April 5, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Run-Off Election (if needed) – to be announced.
CANDIDATE QUALIFYING
Monday, February 14, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. EST – Candidate Qualifying Begins
Friday, February 18, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. EST – Candidate Qualifying Ends
Qualifying packets are available in the Town Clerk’s Office, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding holidays)

2022 CANVASSING BOARD
The Canvassing Board for the Town of Dundee shall be comprised of the town clerk, the town attorney, and one elector of the Town of Dundee that shall be appointed by an oral motion of the town commission at least 30 days prior to the town election.
The Canvassing Board is a group of individuals who oversee important parts of the election. This board ensures that critical decisions about the election are made by a group rather than by a single person.
The Canvassing Board for the April 05, 2022 election is made up of the following:
- Jenn Garcia, Town Clerk/Assistant Town Manager
- John Murphy, Town Attorney or Seth Claytor, Assistant Town Attorney
- Mervin Raggs, III, Elector of the Town
- Mary Richardson, Alternate Member, Elector of the Town
ELECTION REFERENDUMS FOR 2022 ELECTION
The following referendums will be on the ballot for the election on April 05, 2022:
- Amendment Number 1: Compensation of commission by ordinance

LOGIC & ACCURACY TESTING
Logic & Accuracy testing is required by law to be conducted on all of the voting equipment to be used in an election. It is done to ensure that the system is properly programmed, the election is accurately defined on the voting system, and the input, output, and communication devices are working correctly. A representative of the Town Canvassing Board is required to be present to certify the accuracy of the test and witness resetting and sealing of each device that passed to a pre-election state of readiness in such a manner as to secure its state of readiness until the opening of the polls.

The polls will open at the polling places on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 7:00 A.M., Eastern Standard Time, and will close at 7:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time, on the specified day of the election.
REGISTERING TO VOTE
Town residents who are not registered to vote but would like to participate on April 5, 2022, Town Election, have until March 7th to submit their completed voter registration form to the Elections Office. For information to register to vote go to the voter registration information page at the Polk County Supervisor of Elections website at www.polkelections.com. Printed applications are available at the Polk County Supervisor of Elections office, local post offices, and libraries.
Registered voters are reminded to update the elections office with any name or address changes prior to Election Day. You can change your information online at the Polk County Supervisor of Elections website at www.polkelections.com.
