OVERVIEW

Welcome to the Town of Dundee Election Information Center. This information is intended to familiarize Town Commission Candidates, campaign treasurers, and residents with the duties and responsibilities required under Florida’s Election Laws, and the Town of Dundee Charter. All requirements prescribed by State Statute, and included in this material, are subject to change by Florida Legislature.

To become a candidate, you must be a registered voter in Polk County, a qualified elector in the Town of Dundee, and hold no other public office. The terms are 4 years.

As of January 7, 2022, the qualifying fee for the Municipal Election for the Mayor seat is $60 and for a Commission seat is $48.

Notice is hereby given for the Town of Dundee 2025 Municipal Election for the following seats:

Commission Seat 2 – Alethea Pugh (incumbent)

Commission Seat 4- Mary Richardson (incumbent)

All seats for the 2025 Election will be sworn in on May 13, 2025, at 6:30 pm at the meeting of the Town Commission.

IMPORTANT ELECTION DATES

On April 1, 2025, voters will elect two Town Commissioners for the following seat(s):

  • Town Commissioner, Seat No. 2
  • Town Commissioner, Seat No. 4

Regular Election – April 1, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Run-Off Election (if needed) – to be announced.


CANDIDATE QUALIFYING

Monday, February 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. EST – Candidate Qualifying Begins

Friday, February 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. EST – Candidate Qualifying Ends

Qualifying packets are available in the Town Clerk’s Office, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding holidays, the week prior to qualifying)

The following individuals have qualified for the April 1, 2025, Town of Dundee Regular Election.

Candidate Packets will be available the week prior to qualifying and must be completed and submitted by noon on February 14th.

2025 CANVASSING BOARD

The Canvassing Board for the Town of Dundee shall be comprised of the town clerk, the town attorney, and one elector of the Town of Dundee that shall be appointed by an oral motion of the town commission at least 30 days prior to the town election.

The Canvassing Board is a group of individuals who oversee important parts of the election. This board ensures that critical decisions about the election are made by a group rather than by a single person.

The Canvassing Board for the April 01, 2025, election is made up of the following:

  • Erica Anderson, Town Clerk
  • John Murphy, Town Attorney or Seth Claytor, Assistant Town Attorney
  • Jacquelyn Nichols, Elector of the Town
  • Amanda Barclay, Human Resources Director, (alternate)
  • Melissa Glogowski, Administrative Assistant, (alternate)

ELECTION REFERENDUMS FOR 2025 ELECTION

There are no referendums to be placed on the ballot for the election on April 01, 2025:


LOGIC & ACCURACY TESTING

Logic & Accuracy testing is required by law to be conducted on all of the voting equipment to be used in an election. It is done to ensure that the system is properly programmed, the election is accurately defined on the voting system, and the input, output, and communication devices are working correctly. A representative of the Town Canvassing Board is required to be present to certify the accuracy of the test and witness resetting and sealing of each device that passed to a pre-election state of readiness in such a manner as to secure its state of readiness until the opening of the polls.

The polls will open at the polling places on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 7:00 A.M., Eastern Standard Time, and will close at 7:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time, on the specified day of the election.

Walk-In Voting is available at two locations:

Monday, March 17th through Monday March 31st

  • Election Office Headquarters, 250 South Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL.
  • Election Office Operations Center, 70 Florida Citrus Blvd., Winter Have, FL.

Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.


REGISTERING TO VOTE

Town residents who are not registered to vote but would like to participate on April 1, 2025, Town Election, have until March 3rd to submit their completed voter registration form to the Elections Office. For information to register to vote go to the voter registration information page at the Polk County Supervisor of Elections website at www.polkelections.com. Printed applications are available at the Polk County Supervisor of Elections office, local post offices, and libraries.

Registered voters are reminded to update the elections office with any name or address changes prior to Election Day. You can change your information online at the Polk County Supervisor of Elections website at www.polkelections.com.

Can’t make it to the polls? To request an absentee ballot, please contact the Polk County Supervisor of Elections a minimum of 12 days prior to the election date at 863-534-5888 or visit www.polkelections.com
